The Death of Real Conversation
Texting has made dating simultaneously easier and infinitely worse. We can connect with more people than ever, but something feels missing. Where's the butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling from hearing their voice?
I've noticed that the best relationships I've had came from actually talking to people - on the phone, in person. There's no substitute for hearing someone's laugh in real time or seeing how their eyes light up when they talk about something they love.
The Fix
Suggest a phone call early on. If they're only interested in texting, that's probably all you'll get. And if someone consistently takes days to respond but claims they're "really interested," believe their actions over their words.
